All About April Day 2 - Tradition in the Making
It's still all about the leaves today. They have provided free entertainment for these four. Pity the leaf blower is broken at the moment because that would of made us an epic leaf pile to jump in. I did look for our rake which is a half rake seeing it has only half a handle but I discovered its found its way on to the roof. Of course it has.
It is just us five tonight as Jamie and the three older boys and other men folk have gone off for a men only weekend to help celebrate Jaydens upcoming 13th birthday and welcome into manhood. I love that they do this as its a very special time as each man gets a chance to speak into him what it means to be a man.
Each man was given a topic or area of life to speak to Jayden about....brotherhood, faith, family, work ethic, friendship. Tonight that will gather around around campfire and each prayer for him as he enters this journey of becoming a man.
Our society and culture is void of meaningful traditions so it's up to us to be purposeful and active in making these. All too often these days our teenagers are left to their on devices or with major influence from their peers as to how to navigate the teenage years and also what it being a man actually looks like.
I am forever thankful that we have an amazing supportive and invested group of families who are there for our children because it's not just about the men folk, the girls too will get their turn. I am confident that our children will find unconditional love and support and probably a meal from anyone is these families and vice versa......their kids will always be welcome here.
So this weekend will finish with a lunch after church will all members of these families and I am really really looking forward to that!
