Journaling January Day 17 - Connecting

Ok I know these two stools are empty but just moments before they weren't.

Here we sat, my husband and I simply connecting and talking over the days events and musings of the mind. The message spoken at church (fantastic), people seen, news of the family and happenings of the week ahead.

As parents of a more than the normal number of children we have to fight for these moments, for our date nights. Of course it's hard to hold a uninterrupted conversation of any depth with loads of little and not so little people around but we know this, we expect this. We have found ourselves talking in code when there are little ears around that don't need to hear what we are trying to talk about.

We are also finding as some of the kids head into teenage-dom it's even more difficult to spend time by ourselves. Where once we could count on them all being in bed at a decent time, now they are older they more or less can go to bed when we do. Who knew we would be so awesome that would want to hang out with us!!

So every little snippet of time we can steal is a bonus, is precious and we will take them whenever we can. Our marriage is that important, so vitally important for the life of our family. And we aren't going to let the fact that we have a number of kids stop those moments from happening.

"What therefore God has joined together, let no one separate." Matthew 10:9

Do you have date night?  How do you connect with kiddies
 (big and small) around?
